I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but I call Colorado my home. I am from Colorado Springs, Colorado and have lived in Denver off and on since 1999. I attended Colorado State University, Lesley University and Capella University where I have been working on an EdD in Personalized Competency-Based Instruction (Visual Arts). As many of you know, I am a busy body and have steadily worked on a doctoral program dedicated to improving student achievement. I am slowly, but surely still working on my theory and practice and continue to work on my personal and professional development. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing sports (volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball), watching our Colorado team sports (Go Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche, Mammoth, Rockies and Rapids!!!), traveling, creating art (drawing and mixed media), reading, eating, and cooking. I became a teacher because I had the opportunity to travel to numerous countries at a young age. I was blessed to see the world and view many different types of art forms from various cultures. I want to share my knowledge and passion to others. I am a life-long learner, and have discovered over the years that the arts can reach students not normally reached, in ways and methods not normally used. I feel art is needed and is extremely valuable and enhances relationships and the human experience. After school, I love to teach art enrichment classes and coach the Lowry Basketball Team. My husband and I have two children and a dog. I began teaching in Colorado Springs in 2002 and in Denver Public Schools in 2008. I have been an art teacher at Lowry since 2011.
