Dining for Dollars
Thank you to everyone that dined-in or did drive-thru at Chick-Fil-A at Havana Gardens. We made a total of $275.00 that will go directly to the Lowry Aviator Fund!
Mark your calendars for the this month’s upcoming event:  April 10th -14th
SupperBell, a chef-made dinner delivery service that prepares restaurant quality meals, fresh daily and delivers them to your home, is hosting a week-long fundraiser for Lowry Elementary. SupperBell offers a menu that changes weekly and provides same-day delivery of fully cooked dinners that you quickly reheat, just in time for dinner. Families and supporters of Lowry Elementary students can order SupperBell any night (or multiple nights!) during the week of April 10 – April 14.  SupperBell will donate 20% of the week’s sales back to our school.
Simply order online at www.supperbell.com before 3:00 p.m. on the day of delivery, Monday through Friday.  At check out, please enter the promo code SBLOWRY to receive 20% back to the school. Once delivered, you simply heat your food up in minutes and enjoy restaurant quality dinners in the comfort of your home.
The only way to make this program successful is if YOU participate!  Spread the word to your neighbors and friends and have them mention Lowry Elementary when they order.  Remember, your support helps fund some of our most valuable teachers such as paraprofessionals, music, art, technology, Gifted and Talented and more.

 Save the Dates ~ Fourth Grade “Sweet Global Beats: Remix” Show on April 18th and 19th. They will perform songs and dances at 1:30 on April 18th(dress rehearsal) and 9:30 am (dress rehearsal) on April 19th. The evening performance at 6:30 pm on April 19th is for all our families and friends.

From Ms. Zilverberg:  There is an art show at the Denver Public Library-Schlessman Branch from April 10th-30th.  It is open for the public to see and features our 3rd grade students. They will be creating art showing the importance of “Earth Day”. Art will be on display throughout the month of April in the children’s section, so the community can browse and enjoy it.

 

Discovery Link 2017-2018 registration will be opening for Lowry for families. All families fall into a specific category and we will be adhering to the times and deadlines strictly.

  • Current families April 17 – April 28.
  • Currently waitlisted families May 8 – May 12.
  • New families May 8 – May 12.

Open Positions on CSC and/or PTO: 

The Collaborative School Committee (CSC) is a Denver Public School mandated board consisting of the principal, elected parent representatives, teachers, support staff, and community members.  The purpose of the CSC is to implement strategies for the achievement of Lowry students.  One way that this is done is by creating, guiding and evaluating a Unified Improvement Plan (UIP).  The CSC is a policy-setting and decision-making body of our school.  CSC does not operate on a budget, but makes decisions about how funds received from DPS, supplementary grants, and the Aviator Fund is best spent to support the UIP.  CSC meetings are held monthly and are open to the public.

Interested parents must self-nominate and provide a brief personal description including why they would like to be a member of the CSC. The Nomination form will be available after spring break with a final vote by the end of the month.  If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to Theress Pidick at theress_pidick@dpsk12.org.        OPEN: (3) Parent Representative positions on CSC

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is parents, staff and the community working together to enrich and improve the school experience by providing activities and resources that build our Lowry community.  PTO meetings are held monthly, are open to the public, and time commitment varies by committee. Willing parents (positions can also be shared and expanded to committees) fill positions; the existing members vote in the Board member positions. (Board members: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary).  In addition to the open positions, many of the committees need additional support, which is a great way to help support the school rather than head a committee.  If you have further questions, pleas feel free to contact Tina Skewes tinab0714@gmail.com or Charis Sederberg charismarie@gmail.com

Saturday Night Fever – Spring Auction, April 22, 2017

The auction is just over a month away and will be here before we know it! Time to secure your sitter, buy your tickets, and dust off your bell-bottoms!  As many of you know, this auction is our largest fundraiser of the year and typically raises about $75,000, which helps provide so much for our school (activities, technology, events, etc.). We need YOUR help to try to reach our goal of at least $80,000 this year! There are many ways that you can get involved:

  • Buy your tickets today – https://lowrypto.ejoinme.org/2017. Whether you have been at Lowry for years or have a child in ECE, we want you there! The auction is a super fun party and a great place to get to know other parents. And while many folks will dress up in 70’s garb, it is definitely not required. Just wear whatever is comfortable for you!
  • Donate a silent auction item – gift cards, merchandise, gift baskets, condo in the mountains, sports tickets, or just about anything! Just drop it off in the office.
  • Sign up to help with set-up the day of the event – whether you can give 30 minutes or a couple of hours, we will take the help – http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a084aabab28a20-2017
  • Invite your friends/family to attend – The more people we have attend, the more money we raise! This event is open to folks outside of Lowry, so invite your siblings, your parents, your friends! With food, drinks, great company, amazing auction items, and an awesome band – this is a Do Not Miss party!

The 2017 Teacher Treasures are slowly rolling in…. What is a Teacher Treasure?  This is a silent Auction category, where a teacher or staff member graciously donates an outing or special event to be auctioned, and you can bid on these generous gifts or time for your children.  Lowry students love their teachers and staff, and feel special when they have time outside of the classroom with them.  There will be loads of amazing activities, and the best part is….you don’t have to pick just one!  Get ready to bid on all of these treasures at the Auction on April.22nd.
