Hi! My name is Linda Meyer. I was born in Ohio where I spent the first half of
my childhood then moved to the Detroit area of Michigan. While the rest of my
family are Michigan State Spartans (including my husband) I graduated from the
University of Michigan with a Bachelor's in Psychology. At the time, the
Michigan economy was bad, so I ventured west having been intrigued with a family
trip to Colorado when I was in fifth grade. I worked for Kaiser administration
for sixteen years. I met my husband there and both of our children were born at
St. Joseph Hospital. I was blessed to be able to "retire" from Kaiser to go
back to school and received my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the
University of Colorado at Denver in 2000. I felt like I had a calling to teach
and have loved every minute of it! My favorite part is guiding students to
become successful readers and seeing the pride and joy they develop. My
family was the eleventh family to move into the Lowry neighborhood. We had few
paved roads, lots of dirt, no cable, mail delivery, library, school or Town
Center! It was like camping in the middle of the city! I love being a part of
the Lowry community. Our son is a 2008 East High graduate (go Angels!) now
attending the University of Northern Colorado. Our daughter is a sophomore at
George Washington (go Patriots). I love the outdoors, the Colorado sunshine,
gardening, cooking, running, practicing yoga, walking our Akita "Rockie" and
still visiting the lakes of Michigan every summer. Linda Meyer 2nd Grade
