Message from Dr. Larkin:
We are looking forward to having your student(s) back in the building with us next week! Students in Kindergarten-5th Grades report to school on Monday, August 18; ECE students start on Wednesday, August 20.
Below, you will find updates and reminders for the beginning of the school year, as well as information related to our Back-to-School Afternoon/BBQ and PTO invitations.
Our bell times for this year are 8:10 a.m.-3:10 p.m.
Student supervision starts at 8 a.m.--please do not drop your student off before that time.
If you are dropping off your student(s) at school, please follow the following procedures:
ECE/Kindergarten: You will need to park and walk your child to the classroom door. You can park on Trenton St. or Cedar Ave. (west of the school–please do not park on Cedar by the playground). In the afternoon, you will pick up your student from the classroom door.
1st-5th Grades: If you are utilizing the Kiss N Go lane on Maple Ave., please enter Maple from Trenton St (headed east). Wait to unload until you have reached the staff member on duty, who will be located near the sidewalk leading to the school. Students will walk to the blacktop to find their teachers. If you choose to park your vehicle and walk your student to the blacktop, park closer to the field (corner of Maple Ave. and Ulster St.). There is no Kiss N Go for afternoon pickup.
The 2025-2026 calendar is posted on our school website. The calendar includes all DPS holidays and staff professional learning days, as well as the four additional Lowry days off (October 14, February 12, February 13, and April 6). The “Events” section of the website includes our school events and days off; this will be updated throughout the year, so be sure to check this regularly.
All students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast in the classroom again this year. Lunch is free for all students; you will receive information about the You Benefit! form in the next few weeks.
Thursday, August 14 is our Back-to-School event and BBQ. All families are invited to visit your child’s classroom for a brief presentation at 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. Please bring your child’s school supplies to the classroom. Staff members will be on hand to help you find your child’s classroom if needed. At 4:30 p.m., our school staff will be hosting a BBQ on the field.
The Lowry Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will be handing out popsicles at the BBQ. Be sure to stop by to get a cold treat and learn about the PTO. In addition, the PTO will be decorating the school on Sunday, August 17 for the students’ first day. If you would like to participate in decorating, sign up here.
The PTO will be hosting Coffee & Cries on Monday, August 18 at 8:15 a.m. and Wednesday, August 20 at 8:15 a.m. (for ECE families). Please check-in in the office and join them in the Library. I will stop by to welcome you and share some updates.
I look forward to seeing you or meeting you. Welcome back to Lowry!
In partnership,
Dr. Annie Larkin
