Lowry Family Update, September 22-26, 2025

Message from Dr. Larkin:

Thursday night is one of my favorite events of the year: We Are Lowry Night! This is an amazing night of community, school diversity, sharing, and fun! Thank you to our school CARE Committee for organizing the event and to our PTO for funding our partnership with Community Resources, which provides the pizza, lemonade, and professional performers for the evening.

When you arrive for We Are Lowry Night, you will check-in to receive your schedule (you will follow a schedule based on your student’s grade level), then proceed to the blacktop for dinner. Dinner starts at 5:30; if you have signed up to bring food, please arrive by 5 p.m. to set it up. At 6:15, you will begin the rotations–each family will visit Taiko and Dance (professional Japanese drummers), student performances, and your student’s classroom. We will also have a free immunization clinic as well as other health partners at the event.

I hope to see you there! Please RSVP: English, Spanish, Arabic.

What’s Happening at Lowry:

  • The PTO Annual Giving Campaign is live! This is the PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year. Without PTO funding, our students will not benefit from guest speakers and additional field trips, fun events like the Bubble Fun Run (coming on 10/3!), or the garden! They fund Community Resources, which provides the professional performances for We Are Lowry Night. The PTO is looking to bring new experiences for our students and community, including a Family Dance, Trunk-Or-Treat, and a Wellness Night. They can't do any of this without your financial support! If you are able to donate, please visit their Annual Giving site.

  • Each year, families are asked to complete the federal Meal Benefits Application. Colorado provides free lunch to students, but it is critical that our families complete the Meal Benefits form to ensure that we receive additional federal funding. This funding helps us meet the needs of all students! We are asking all families to complete the application, even if you feel that you do not qualify (there is an option to decline the benefits once you log in). Complete the application here

  • Our attendance incentive begins next week! All students who are on time and present for the entire week will be entered into a drawing to win a book from the Book Vending Machine; winners will be selected on October 6. If you would like to donate books for the vending machine, check out our wish lists:  Amazon and The Bookies

Grade Level Shout Out:

Shout out to Deaf and Hard of Hearing teachers, interpreters, and students! Students are working incredibly hard in their own classroom and crushing it when pushing into general education classrooms! It is HARD joining new communities of teachers and students and learning in new and challenging ways, but they are showing up with positive attitudes and busy hands 🫶!! We are so grateful to have these adults and young learners as such joyous members of our school community, keep it up!! 🤟

In partnership,

Dr. Annie Larkin
