Dear Lowry Elementary Families and Community,

As we move into a season of possible food insecurity for many families, we are reminded of the importance of community and caring for one another. Each year, our school comes together to support families who may be facing food insecurity and this year the need is especially great.

At Lowry, ¾ of our students qualify for free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Presently, we are seeing an incredible and unprecedented rise in the number of families at our school who are in need of resources for food. We will have, on our website and social media soon, all the locations for Denver Public Schools Community Hubs and other food banks and resources.

We are fortunate in Denver Public Schools to have many Community Hubs that serve all DPS students and their families - they provide many resources, one of which is food. During this period of time, it is just not enough to sustain some of our families

The need at the present time is money: financial donations with which we can purchase grocery cards so that families may purchase perishable items to supplement the non-perishable items from food banks.

If you are able to make a donation for us to purchase grocery cards, it would be very much appreciated. All donations will go directly toward grocery cards distributed confidentially by our school support team. You may donate via our Cheddar Up campaign or via check (made out to Lowry Elementary PTO with “Food Pantry” in the memo line).

Thank you for your generosity, compassion and continued support of our school community.

Together, we can make a difference.
