Message from Dr. Larkin:
November includes a number of annual highlights and a special event last week! It was wonderful seeing so many families at our fall conferences; we are all proud of our students! This week, we will have our Scholastic Book Fair and Thanksgiving Lunch (information for both events is below). Last week, Nuggets’ mascot Rocky the Mountain Lion, Nuggets staff and cheerleaders, and members of the DPS Foundation came to school to check out our new vibrating and light-up floor in the music room. A group of our current 5th graders presented a persuasive essay last year to get a grant to fund the floor, which benefits all students, but particularly our students in the D/HH and MI-A Center programs.
Our quest to have organized games at recess is a big hit! We now have a Gaga Ball pit on the blacktop and have been teaching students the rules. One organized game has truly created a high level of engagement with the students and it is a joy to watch them. We are still looking for recess support; our goal is to get it up and running in December. If you are interested in helping out, even occasionally, please complete our interest form. Mr. Sinclair, Dean of Culture, will reach out soon.
