Lowry Family Update, December 15-19, 2025

Message from Dr. Larkin:

I hope you have a wonderful, restful Winter Break! As a reminder, there is no school December 22-January 5. We look forward to seeing you and students back on Tuesday, January 6.

Upon our return in January, you will receive information about a new afternoon departure lane and revamped arrival procedures (formerly known as Kiss and Go). Parents and guardians will need to sign up for the new departure lane, so be sure to keep an eye out for that information in January.

Thank you to our PTO for organizing our Annual Spaghetti Dinner; to our staff for helping to set up, serve food, and clean up; and to you, our school families, for attending the event. We served food to almost 200 people! It was lovely to see so many families socializing together and with the staff–our community is what makes Lowry so special! Families and community members donated $1,620 to the PTO’s Colorado Gives Day campaign; all of the money raised will support new school signage, including a permanent sign on the Cedar Ave. side of the building and banners along the sidewalk between the playgrounds. If you would like to donate to the Colorado Gives Day campaign, you may do so here.

What’s Happening at Lowry:

  • All parents and guardians are invited to attend our Collaborative School Committee (CSC) meeting on Tuesday, December 16 at 4:30. You may join in-person or virtually (Google Meet Link). This week’s meeting will focus on the 2026-2027 budget and student enrollment projections. For more information, see the meeting agenda and October minutes.

  • Reminders for our winter concerts: Prior to the concerts, students will learn about the routines and behavioral expectations for the concert. We are asking parents to discuss these with your child(ren) and model them during the concert. Students will be asked to:

  • Stay in their seats during the concert until it is time for their class/grade-level to perform. This will allow everyone to see all performances without obstruction. Family members are asked to stay seated as well and make sure you do not block other viewers when you are recording those adorable performances! If you would like to stand to record, you can do so from behind the audience chairs.

  • Remain at “Level 0”. This means that students are not talking during and between performances.

  • Clap for all students.

  • Our Student Leadership team is hosting a hygiene drive in support of The Gathering Place. You can donate unopened and unexpired items or donate money to the cause. The most needed items are soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair products for ethnic hair, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste (no toothbrushes), floss, chapstick, face and body wipes, wet wipes, face cleaners, hairbrushes, combs, fingernail clippers, disposable razors, and towels. They do not need menstrual products. If you would like to donate money to the drive, click here

Family Activity Corner:

As we wrap up the year, we’re reminded how grateful we are for the warmth and joy your families bring to our school community. This month’s activities are all about slowing down and sharing simple moments together—sipping hot chocolate you make as a family and creating paper snowflakes that spark a little winter magic. We hope these cozy traditions bring you connection, laughter, and a chance to enjoy the season with the people you love most.
