What’s Happening at Lowry:

  • Please welcome Grace Clark to Lowry! Grace is joining us as a special educator; she will be working part-time with students in our primary grades.

  • Join us for the virtual PTO Meeting on Thursday, January 8 (6:30-7:30 p.m.)! The PTO only functions well with involved parents, guardians, and school staff–if you have not attended a meeting yet, this is a great opportunity to learn about how you can get involved! There will be a discussion of board and committee roles for next year, upcoming second semester events, and a roll-out of the Annual Fund. Join us virtually here.

Staff Spotlight:

This week’s Staff Spotlight is Whitney Adams, Lowry’s reading interventionist and one of our senior team leads.

Whitney grew up in Parker, Colorado and attended the University of Denver, where she received her teaching license. She has worked in Denver Public Schools for 12 years and taught almost every grade between Kindergarten and 5th grade! You may see Whitney working with students or teachers at Lowry: in her role at Lowry, Whitney gets “to focus on reading instruction and also work closely with teachers!” Whitney works with students during the WIN (What I Need) literacy block to help them become fluent and proficient readers. As a senior team lead, Whitney works with our staff members to help them develop their knowledge and expertise of reading instruction. She also supports teachers as a thought partner and to help them work collaboratively with their grade-level teams.

Whitney states, “I feel very lucky that I get to do what I love every day!” And we’re lucky to have Whitney here as part of our Lowry family!

In partnership,

Dr. Annie Larkin
