Message from Dr. Larkin:

Lowry is fortunate to have wonderful community partnerships that support student learning and engagement. We have a strong partnership with the DPS Foundation–they have supported a number of school programs including our student band, a partnership with Southwest Airlines that provided the funding for our tactile floor in the music room, fundraising for Liberty in 2023, and a grant that helped our 4th graders attend a field trip at DMNS (see the Grade Level Shoutout below for more details). In addition, we have partnered with Community Resources, Inc., an organization that provides speakers, field trips, and experiences (such as the professional presentations for We Are Lowry and Science Nights). This year, we are building a relationship with Lowry United Neighborhoods to strengthen the bond between our school community and the greater Lowry community. If you know of other community partnerships that would be interested in working with Lowry, please reach out!

Just as we are committed to working with our community, we look to support/promote our other community schools. George Washington High School is hosting a Wish Week this week to support the Make A Wish Colorado organization. GWHS has invited Lowry families to participate in a number of community events, including:

  • March 24: Chick-fil-A Dining Out (430 S Colorado Blvd, Glendale, CO 80246, 4-7 p.m.)

  • March 25: Movie Night at GWHS, 6:30 p.m.

  • March 26: Mini Magic Kingdom at GWHS, 3:30-6:30 p.m.

For more information about GW’s Wish Week, visit their Weekly Roundup (scroll down to Wish Week info).

Grade Level Shoutout:

A huge shout out to our amazing 4th graders for an unforgettable overnight adventure! Thanks to a very generous grant from the DPS Foundation’s A-Z Fund and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, students had the incredible opportunity to spend the night at the museum. They explored exhibits, participated in enriching learning experiences, and even slept in the space exhibit while enjoying the museum after hours. This special experience provided meaningful educational enrichment and opened the door to new opportunities for curiosity, discovery, and hands-on learning. The students had an absolute blast while deepening their understanding of science in a truly memorable way! Check out Lowry’s social media pages to see pictures from the trip.

In partnership,

Dr. Annie Larkin
