Welcome to Lowry!
Our building has been under construction all summer, as a new chiller system was installed to make sure that our entire facility is cool and comfortable when students return in a few weeks. It is nice to be back in the building getting ready for the 2026-2027 school year; we are looking forward to meeting new families and seeing our returning families very soon.
Below is important information about the start of the school year, including corrected information about registration support, and school policies and procedures.
Wednesday, August 12: All new and returning families must complete online registration through the DPS Parent Portal prior to the first day of school. You can visit the DPS Online Registration page here for information about how to sign up for the Parent Portal and/or complete the registration. If you need support with the process, you may come to Lowry on Wednesday, August 12 (8 a.m.-1 p.m.) for in-person assistance (this is the correct date).
Sunday, August 16: On Sunday, August 16 (9:30-10:30 a.m.), our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is hosting a summer get-together for all new families on Sunday, August 16, 9:30-10:30 a.m. on the Maple Ave. playgrounds (north side of the school). This is a great opportunity to meet other families before the start of school. Returning families are also welcome! Please RSVP so the PTO knows how many families to expect and can contact you in case of a weather-related change. Returning families are also welcome!
Thursday, August 20: Our Back-to-School event and BBQ will be held on Thursday, August 20 (3:30-5:30 p.m.). During this time, families will visit their students’ classrooms in two sessions (3:30-4 and 4-4:30); teacher assignments will be available in the Parent Portal on August 19. Please bring your school supplies to your Back-to-School session. After the classroom sessions, all families are invited to attend a BBQ hosted by the Lowry staff. Families are encouraged to stop by our information tables during the event; you can find out information about our MLE PAC, sign up for the DPS App (more information below), complete the Meal Benefits form, get a Departure Lane tag (more information below) and meet members of our PTO and Intervention, Special Education, and Gifted & Talented teams.
This year, there will be three first days of school! After drop-off on each of the following days, please join members of our PTO for coffee, light refreshments, and a chance to meet other families.
Monday, August 24:
First day for students in grades 1-5.
Kindergarten “Meet the Teacher” sessions (families will receive an email directly from their teacher regarding signing up for that session).
Tuesday, August 25: First day for Kindergarten students.
Wednesday, August 26: First day for ECE students. ECE families will receive information about classroom visitation opportunities directly from ECE teachers.
Additional important information:
DPS has implemented a new electronic device policy. At Lowry, cell phones and wearable technology (such as smart watches) must be stored in the main office during the school day.
If you are interested in utilizing the Departure Lane for afternoon pick up, you can sign up and pick up your hang tag at the BBQ on August 20. You must have a tag prior to the first day of school in order to utilize the lane. Learn more information about the Departure Lane here. If you utilized the Departure Lane last year, you will need a new tag for this year.
All families will need to use the DPS App this year–classroom and school communication will be sent through this application. Please download the app prior to August. Find out more information here.
