Extracurricular Activities

In line with the school’s mission of providing a well-rounded education and the PTO’s commitment to supporting enhanced educational opportunities, Lowry Elementary offers a variety of engaging, extracurricular programs, including:

Co-Ed Competitive Basketball: This team for 4th-5th graders plays in the winter months and competes with other area elementary schools. Tryouts for the team occur in October and games/practices are held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from November to February. 

Connect Us: Connect Us is a non-profit dedicated to building the social and emotional wellbeing of children. Their After School Friendship and Leadership groups bring diverse sets of students together in an open, supportive environment where they’re encouraged to express their individuality, discover commonalities and gain an understanding and appreciation of differences. It is play with a purpose. Two sessions are offered each year – for kindergarten to fifth grade students.

Girls On The Run: Utilizing running as a vehicle for understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and building self-confidence Girls on the Run participants meet weekly and culminate each session with a 5K run. Two sessions are offered each year – spring and fall. For third to fifth grade. Girls on the Run will be having a spring session.

After School Enrichment Programs: A wide variety of after school enrichment classes are offered during four 8-week sessions each year. Offerings change each session, but have included: tennis, golf, basketball, lacrosse and other sports, poetry, foreign language, cooking, jewelry making, art, gardening and many other creative and exciting learning opportunities for the students. Outside vendors teach the enrichment programs. Additional fees may be required and scholarships are available.
